Icones historiarum veteris testamenti [...]. 4to: [52] ff. - First (?) edition of 1547 with the fifth line of the title ending in "emenda-" and the first line of the French text of leaf L1r ending in "uices"; also with the use of "v" for "u" at the beginning of words in the Latin text. Illustrated with 98 fine woodcuts depicting 94 biblical scenes, after Hans Holbein II (c. 1497-1543), and the Four Evangelists from another artist. Each woodcut is accompanied by a Latin text and a French quatrain by Gilles Corrozet (1510-1568). With a Latin preface by Nicolas Bourbon (c. 1503-1550) revealing the name of Holbein the Younger and a French preface by Corrozet ended by his motto "Plus que moins" (more than less).
