Condition report: Framed Born in 1961 in Buenos Aires, where he still lives and works, Argentine artist Guillermo Kuitca draws his inspiration from a variety of iconography - architectural plans, maps, theatres, musical scores and domestic spaces - to produce work that explores themes of history, memory, absence, sound and silence. In the second half of his career, he was acclaimed for his deployment of a unique Cubistoid style that masterfully reconciles abstraction with an illusionist form of figuration.
His work has been shown at the Fondation Cartier and more recently at the LAM in Villeneuve d'Ascq.
