The green of jades, the finesse of porcelain, the brilliance of lacquer... all the arts of Asia are on show at these auctions.
China, Japan, Korea... From Southeast Asia to the Far East, all cultures are represented by meticulously appraised second-hand works of art with multiple influences. Archaeology and the arts of the great Asian civilisations are on offer: archaic bronze, tripod planters, terracotta, jade and hardstone seals, Han or Tang horses, mingqi, lacquered subjects, silk painting, masterpieces of printmaking, netsuke, wood sculpture, cloisonné enamels, scholarly objects, bamboo brush holders, screens, etc. The richness of Asian ceramics is also on display: crackle stoneware, "blue and white" porcelain or pink and green families, celadon or oxblood colours, imperial porcelain from the Ming, Qing, Canton or Nanjing dynasties, etc. At the crossroads of the Buddhist and Hindu religions, the art of India and Indianised countries is also on show: high reliefs depicting Vishnu, bronze dancing Shiva, Buddha figures, Himalayan ritual bells, shamanic ceremonial masks and more. From Khmer sculpture to Japanese raku, specialists and connoisseurs alike will be able to find quality pieces in France's dynamic Asian art market.
