He exhibited at a number of world's fairs, including Paris in 1889 and San Francisco in 1915. In 1924, during a trip to Japan by Alfred Baur (a great collector of Japanese and Chinese art, and the founder of the Baur Foundation in Geneva), Baur came to see him and bought almost all the pieces in his studio.
