(38 rue de Trévise 75009 PARIS - 06.03.23.08.53. - [email protected]) Ludolf BAKHUYZEN was a marine painter, portraitist and engraver of the Dutch school. In 1665, he was commissioned by the city of Amsterdam to paint the picture to be presented to the French minister Hugues de Lionne, now in the Louvre. Bukhuyzen was one of the most highly regarded artists of his lifetime, training Peter the Great, King of Prussia, among others. His works reflect his taste for interpreting great swell movements and stormy skies on broken waves. Many of his works are now in the Louvre.
