LUCIEN DE SAMOSATE - MAILLOL (A.). DIALOGUE DES COURTISANES. Paris, (Henri Creuzevault and Dina Vierny), 1948. Large in-4°, half-fauwn morocco, ribbed spine, gilt head, soft vellum cover preserved. Edition with the original text translated from Greek by Charles Astruc. It is illustrated with 35 remarkable compositions by the sculptor Aristide Maillol, including one on the title, a frontispiece and 6 full-page lithographs signed in stone. The lithographs were printed under the direction of Fernand Mourlot, and the stones were erased after printing. All copies are printed on pure hemp paper, handmade using the artist's own processes. Limited edition of 275 copies, this one of the first 50 with a SUITE EN SANGUINE (Monod 7468). A fine copy, nicely bound.
