Charles MICHELEZ (1817-1894) after Victor HUGO (1802-1885), "La Durande signalée", "Ancien paysage", "Clocher droit mât penchant" and "La poupe de la Durande", suite of 4 photographic albumen prints, mounted on strong paper, from Victor Hugo's wash drawings for "Les Travailleurs de la mer", stamp under the print with the words "Michelez, Paris, 84 rue d'Assas", size of prints: 12 x 13 cm to 10.5 x 20 cm., sheet size: 31.5 x 45 cm. Mottling and/or foxing.
N.B.: After spending 15 years in exile, Victor Hugo paid tribute to Guernsey with Les travailleurs de la mer, for which he executed ink wash drawings, photographed by Michelez after the poet's return to Paris.
