Album of c. 300 porcelain cards and c. 400 advertising cards and images, mainly relating to the 1885 Antwerp World's Fair. Various formats, from business cards to folio, glued. - A rich collection of cards and advertising cards from cafés, hotels and restaurants, manufacturers, merchants and craftsmen, as well as gifts and menus, not only from Belgium but also from Germany, England, France and Italy, our album contains a very large number of varied documents relating to the 1885 Universal Exhibition in Antwerp, located on the banks of the Scheldt, between the Flemish Quay and the Place du Peuple. These include invitations, entry cards, badges, lottery tickets, souvenirs, exhibition plans and views of the various pavilions. Apart from a few photo cards, money orders and pictures, there are also several invitations to events organised by the Royal Zoological Society and the Royal Harmony Society of Antwerp, as well as the "Aze Ixh Xan" artistic union. - Prov. Charles Vanderlinden (1852-1932), Antwerp provincial councillor and secretary of the Royal Horticultural Society, husband of Thilla Rijmenans.
