Description
A blue wing. Tinted and enhanced platinum print, fully mounted on Bristol board, 26,5 x 8,2 cm, under passe-partout, signature in the margin. - Fernand Khnopff collaborated with Alexandre, a French photographer based in Brussels, to whom he entrusted several of his works to be reproduced as platinum prints, which the artist then enhanced with colour. "It is not known how many prints were made of each retouched photograph, but the print run was probably limited to a small number (between 5 and 10 copies)". A label with the ms. inscription "Fernand Khnopff / Bruxelles / 28", which may correspond to the number assigned to this photograph in the catalogue of the solo exhibition organised by the Arti Gallery in Scheveningen in 1913 (ref. Tricot, pp.23, 28). A similar version is in the collection of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium. - Ref.
