Portrait of King Umberto I of Italy. Silver print, 66 x 24,8 cm, mounted on cardboard, photographers studio's dry stamp, ms. dedication in Italian on the mount. - Large portrait of Umberto in his later years, dedicated by Margherita: "Ricordo di un uomo che aveva il cuore onesto e l'anima generosa di un re che é sempre stato leale verso il suo poppolo! 5 giugno 1902, Roma". She could be Margherita of Savoy, Queen of Italy by marriage to her first cousin King Umberto I of Italy. Guigoni & Bossi (1888-1931) was a photography company founded in 1888 by Edmondo Guigoni and Antonio Bossi in Milan. The studio was specialised in portraiture and participated in the Turin Exhibition of 1898 with a series of views and portraits of the Royal Family.
