Description
Pictorialism nude in front of a wall. Bromoil gelatin silver print, 26,8 x 12 cm, not signed. - Yuri Eremin (1881-1948) was a Russian photographer, representative of pictorialism, a movement using photography as an artistic medium. Eremin studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in the class of Apollinary Vasnetsov, travelled in Europe in 1910-1914 and attended drawing classes at the private Julian Academy in Paris, then returned to Moscow after the October Revolution. In photography, Eremin became known in the 1920s and 1930s as a master of architectural and landscape photography, as well as for his nude photographs. In 1910, he became a member of the Russian Photographic Society.
