2 portraits of elegant men. Ambrotypes, sixth-plates, hand-coloured, finished with a gilt passe-partout in cases inlaid with patterned velvet. - 1. Portrait signed Fred Archer. It could be attributed to Frederick Scott Archer (1814-1857), English chemist and photographer who invented the photographic collodion process, or a portrait of the famous English Jokey, Frederick James Archer (1857-1886). - 2 Portrait of a seated man in a fine thermoplastic case: "The deer and the Pine tree", casemaker: Peck and Halvorson, c. 1870.
