L'enfer de Joseph Prudhomme (Henry Monnier), i.e. La grisette et l'étudiant, Deux gougnottes, dialogues embellished with an infamous figure and a damning autograph. In-12: [4]-74-[1] pp; 2 h.-t. (small angular lack on the false-title, rare small stains, a few russets on the h.-t. especially marg. on the front). - The rarest of the 3 editions attributed to Poulet-Malassis (including one with the Amsterdam address, enclosed), illustrated with an etching after Rops on chine depicting the two damsels embracing and a facsimile of the autograph, in different states according to the editions. Ours includes the 2nd state of the front and the facsimile in 10 lines (flyleaves). Title in red and black decorated with a fleuron with the head of a horned satyr turned to the left.
