2 rare parodies. 1 [Piron, Alexis ?] - Vasta Reine de Bordelie. Tragedy in three acts and verse. S.l., s.n., [c. 1870]. In-18: 27 pp. Contemporary moiré tan percaline (spines weakened). Separate edition of this play attributed, perhaps erroneously, to Piron and published in "Le Théâtre gaillard". Printed in black and red, text framed. Parody of the story of Hippolyte's death in Racine's "Phèdre". Cp. Dutel A-1139, Pia 1484, BGL III:1303. Prov. stamp with initial "M" on 2 blank ff. - 2 [Lemercier de Neuville, Louis] - La fille Élisa. Workshop scene in one act by a well-known author. Rome, au Temple de Vénus, (1882). In-16: 32 pp. (rare spotting and faint russeting, marg. pinhole on one f.). Contemporary red half-maroquin with corners, cover boards (minor wear to corners and head of spine). A fine, finely bound copy. Unlisted edition of this parodic play combining the Goncourts' daughter Elisa (1877) and Zola's Nana (1880). Also attributed to Charles Monselet. The original edition dates from 1880 according to Pia, around 1884 according to Dutel. Ours is dated on the title of the cover. Ex. on Van Gelder hollande. Ref. Cp. Dutel 302, Pia 506, BGL II:306.
