History of the eye. New version with six original etchings and burin engravings. Gr. in-8° (rare pitting). - Second clandestine edition - known as the "Seville edition" - of this major text, with Bellmer's first etchings. Illustrated with 6 etchings, each depicting one side of the "Bataillian triad" (eye-egg / anus-vagina / phallus-testicles). Limited edition of 199 copies, one of 20 on Hollande Van Gelder laid paper reserved for subscribers (no. IX), with the double suite of engravings, in black and in colour. With a double aut. s. from Bataille, testifying to the personal and intellectual ties between him and his former wife Sylvia Maklès (now Sylvia Bataille) and the psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan: "To Sylvia and Jacques, with all the friendship of Georges" and, added in biros, "Cette transfiguration désordonnée qu'[on voit dans la...] la fièvre des phrases". The copy was loaned as part of the exhibition "Lacan.
