Description
Lapps. Black ink, 21.9 x 29.7 cm, wove paper, signed and titled (small folds). - Between his discovery of Lapland in 1956 and the invention of the logogram in 1962-1963, Dotremont produced "Lappish drawings" in ink, particularly during his second trip to Lapland in 1961. In this drawing, the silhouettes of the Lapps seem to form letters, foreshadowing the fusion between drawing and writing that Dotremont would achieve in the logogram. - Joint, by the same artist: Lithograph, 13.5 x 19.7 cm, wove paper, number 119/150 in pencil (small stains on margins). Logogram after a text by Norge printed below: "Giving lesson to love also the world we received and not only an invisible homeland" (Norge). (2 pcs) - Prov. [Joseph Noiret].
