Description
The real face of Rex. Postage stamp with strip. Photogravure, 4.5 x 3.3 cm, on gummed paper, serrated edges, upper margin cons. Very good condition. - Rare anti-rexist propaganda stamp, not issued, reproducing the poster made by Magritte for the Comité de vigilance des intellectuels antifascistes. This stamp was advertised in "La Dernière Heure" of 25 October 1936. This liberal newspaper supported the Popular Front project promoted by the CVIA. Léon Degrelle, leader of the Rexist party, looks at himself in a mirror showing Hitler's face. Printed in red and black. - Ref.
