Artificial paradises. Opium and hashish. In-12 (slightly browned, without the final blank f.). - Rare and sought-after first edition. Edition of 1500 copies, some of which were resold in 1861. Ours, on vellum, is a first issue, with the title and cover dated 1860. In this seminal work, Baudelaire recounts his experiences at the Hashischins Club and comments, with numerous translated quotations, on Thomas de Quincey's famous "Confessions of an English Opium Eater" (1821). - Ref.
