Two tales. The old man. The string. Eighty-four small compositions drawn and wood-engraved by Auguste Lepère. In-8° (some discharges of the engravings). - First illustrated edition: 84 small wood-engraved vignettes in 2 tones by Lepère, who himself printed the work on his hand press. Text in red and black with coloured initials. Edition of 120 numbered copies on Van Gelder (No. 92). Enriched with : 1. Flying L.A.S. from Gustave Guétant dated 1900 to a "Dear Sir" in which he says that he has received the 1st class medal at the Salon des artistes français and that he is "very happy that your volume "Deux Contes" is included in this distinction". - 2. green lithograph on japan signed "G.G.09", model for the plate of the binding.
