Romances sans paroles. Illustrated in colour by Léon Lebègue. In-12. - First edition of Lebègue's charming compositions, including 1 frontispiece, 4 part-titles, bandeaux and culs--de-lampe. Edition of 1,500 copies, one of the 30 first editions on japon (no. 14, initialled by the publisher) containing 4 states of the illustrations, including 1 on chine, and 1 original watercolour (adorning the false-title). - Joint, same author: Oeuvres libres. Segovia [i.e. Paris], under the name of Licenciado Pablo de Herlagnez, 1868 [i.e. c. 1930]. In-8°. Tan chagrin with corners, cons. cover (spine faded). Edition including "Amies", "Femmes", "Hombres" (except the last 4 quatrains of "Balanide I") and the "Sonnet du trou du cul" by Verlaine and Rimbaud. Adorned with large free-form woodcut lettering and endpapers. 1/400 copies not numbered on Arches laid paper reserved for subscribers. Without the suite of 6 etchings that often accompany the copies, but enriched with a plate of a front by Rops (stamp of the photogr. service of the Royal Library, Brussels). Ref.
