(rare stains and small russets, especially marg., ink discharge from the signature of the dedication). - First edition, decorated with a lithographed frontispiece portrait by Delpech and a gr. etching by Aug. Delvaux after Swebach drawn by Couché fils depicting d'Hautpoul in full charge of cuirassiers with a long engraved caption. The work is preceded by a dedication to the emperor with the autograph signature of the notary Boilleau, a friend of the general from whom the author received the notes used to write his eulogy. - Ref.
