La rôtisserie de la reine Pédauque. Illustrated by Auguste Leroux with 176 compositions engraved by Duplessis, Ernest Florian, the two Froments, Gusman and Perrichon. Pet. in-4° square (spotting at the head more concentrated in the middle of the work, rare small russets). - Beautiful edition printed in civil type, illustrated with a portrait of the author on the front, 17 h.-t. in one or more colours, and numerous in-texts in black playing with the page layout. Edition of 410 numbered copies and 11 illustration suites. Among the 380 printed in small square in-4°, one of 47 on strong chine (n° 65). The publisher's prospectus (8 pp.), bound in fine, gives details of the justification. Enriched with : 1. A suite of artist's proofs of all the engravings, printed at 11 copies, one of the 5 first copies on antique japon, in the publisher's hardback portfolio (small tears to the spines and flaps, one string broken but complete). - 2. an original signed watercolour by A. Leroux. According to Carteret, this publication is Leroux's masterpiece: "His remarkable illustrations are wood-engraved with consummate skill.
