Voyage [- Second voyage [...]] [...] in the interior of Africa, via the Cape of Good Hope, in the years 1780, 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 [1783, 84 and 85]. 5 vols, 8vo; 12 & 22 plates (text n.c., occ. normal age-toning). - Levaillant's first and second Cape travels. As a gunner's mate for the Dutch East India Company from 1780 to 1785, Levaillant was able to study the bird and animal life in their natural habitat, returning with over 2000 specimens of birds, insects, mammals and plants.
