Gouache, 58.8 x 42.0 cm, heavy wove paper, signed on verso (drawing pin holes in lower corners, small stains, lower edge slightly rubbed). - Copy inspired by an illustration by Paul Colin for the Revue nègre at the Music-Hall des Champs-Élysées. The creation of the Revue nègre in 1925 coincided with the emergence in France of jazz music and "black craziness". It was also during the Revue nègre that Josephine Baker and her "danse sauvage" came to light.
