Travels in India [...]. Third edition illustrated with two-tone lithographs [...]. 2 parts with continuous pagination in 1 vol, large 8vo; front, 37 pl. (text n.c., some spotting). - 3rd ed. of this travel account in form of letters of two voyages made by the Prince Soltykov in Sri Lanka and mainly in India during the years 1841-1843 and 1845-1846. Illustrated with a map of India with the routes in colour and 36 lithographs on tinted background, after the author's drawings, representing the village of Gatiganawa, the festival of the moon at Kandy (Esala Perahera), "voyage en poste dans les plaines du Pandjabe", etc. The traveller and artist Soltykov (1806-1859), grandson of Prince Nikolay Soltykov, received the nickname of "The Indian" from the Russian and French aristocracy.
