Description
"The bibliophile's book". In-f°: 51 mss. ff. of various formats written in black ink, with numerous erasures and corrections, some in blue or black pencil, 28 ff. of proofs corrected in black pencil, all mounted by the left edge on Ingres "France" laid paper (mottling with dark spots marg. at head, some ink discharges on white ff.). - Manuscript of the opuscule published anonymously by Alphonse Lemerre in 1874. The latter signed the warning in his edition, giving the impression that he was the author, whereas it is entirely in Anatole France's hand, as shown in our manuscript, which only lacks the "Appendice sur la reproduction de textes" composed essentially of extracts from classical authors. Followed by a corrected proof of the complete work, with cover, of the 2nd edition published the same year. - Reference Talvart & Place VI:5.A.
