Description
The four orders of Suv. Chap. Small in-8°: 226 pp, brown ink on laid paper (pp. 2-12 left blank, foxing and spotting to title, a few light foxings and/or stains passim, a few light ink discharges or migrations, rare small stains). - Rare and precious manuscript copy of the rituals of the four Orders of Wisdom - Secret Chosen, Grade of Scotsman, Knight of the East, Sovereign Prince Rosicrucian -, corresponding to the high Masonic grades of the French Rite. These founding rituals, laid down in 1786, were only handed down in manuscript form until they were published in 1801 under the title "Régulateur des Chevaliers Maçons". Manuscripts relating to the rituals of high degrees, such as ours, were rarely circulated and often in a confidential manner. Title in red, 3 emblems drawn in pen and enhanced, hieroglyphic table in red and black. - Prov. Touquet, 1844 (ms. in another hand, p. 13). - Traces of a disappeared bookplate on the upper flyleaf.
