Complete works. 70 vol. in-8° ; 18 plates (text b.c., foxing, stains, tears). - First printing of this edition considered as the original" (L'oeuvre imprimé de Voltaire...), undertaken by Beaumarchais who entrusted the literary direction to Condorcet, Decroix and Ruault. Only vol. 70 bears the date 1789. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Voltaire by N. Largillière engraved by Tardieu in vol. 1, a portrait after Quentin de La Tour engraved by Langlois in vol. 16 and a 3rd portrait in vol. 32 after Houdon by Moreau le Jeune and engraved by Tardieu.
