Description
Memoirs of the Duc de Montpensier [...], prince of the blood. Gr. in-8° (foxing to front). - Deluxe reprint (original ed. under the title "Relation de la captivité [...]" in 1816, under this title in 1824) of which there are copies in in-4° format, hors commerce. Ill. in front. of a finely engraved portrait by Dupont on chine appliqué after a self-portrait. "The youngest son of the Duc d'Orléans, brother of Louis-Philippe, the Duc de Montpensier (1775-1807) recounts his long captivity in Marseille in the company of the Prince de Conti and the Duchess de Bourbon. His account is very detailed and gives [...] a political analysis of the main events of the time" (Fierro). - Ref.
