Description
VARIA
Set of 23 prints, including ten in colour, printed on vellum, mainly photogravures published by Goupil & Cie or its successors Manzi, Joyant & Cie, between 1880 and 1900.
Various genre subjects, hunting, fishing and decorative compositions after Munier, De Jonghe, F.-H. Kaemmerer, Stead, Barclay, Schlesinger, Maud Goodman, Poittevin, Ridgway Knight, Heywood Hardy, George Earl, Farquharson, Halfnight, Rudaux and Compte Calix.
Sheet sizes (including margins): from 60 x 46 cm to 68 x 95 cm.
All in good condition. There are, however, a few marks of use in the margins, foxing on five or six plates and a few small marginal tears not affecting the compositions.
Goupil & Cie, founded in Paris in 1829, was one of the most important publishers and art dealers of the 19th century, specialising in the distribution of prints and reproductions of works of art. At the end of the century, its activities were continued by Manzi-Joyant & Cie, renowned for its luxury illustrated editions and innovations in photogravure.
