Brass 30 mm portrait of PHILIPPE DUC D'ORLEANS ( * ), bust profile on the left - at the exergue vintage 1899 between two crowns - Reverse declarations ; circular : " je ne vengerai que les injures faites à la Patrie - Philippe " - en centre : Je replacerai mon pays au premier rang des nations avec le concours de tous les vrais français - Philippe ". - Weight 7.95 grams - SUP Lienhardt / Alvarez catalogue no. 3190. ( * ) Born in Twikenham in exile in the United Kingdom in 1869. Died in 1926 at the Palais d'Orléans in Palermo, Sicily, pretender to the throne of France under the name of PHILIPPE VIII from 1894 to 1926. Head of the House of Orléans at the age of 25. In 1896 he married Archduchess Marie Dorothée of Habsburg-Lorraine. A great traveller, he devoted his life to exploring Africa and the Arctic regions, writing and hunting, with the aim of creating a museum. His trophies were donated to the Natural History Museum in Paris.
