"GALLIA" ( * ) - Very large medal of reward table, RARE in this size, cuirassed warrior, with long braids, wearing a helmet, profile on the right. Behind the neck branch of mistletoe - Work high relief signed Charles PILLET, Grand Prix de Rome 1890 - Reverse: place for award and composition of a large palm, laurel and olive branches. - Desaïde éditeur (circa 1900 / 1920) - silver-plated bronze, bronze and triangle hallmark on the edge. - 130.37 grams - 68 millimetres - TTB ( * ) Gallia : the defeat of 1870 had left its mark on the French mind and provoked the development of patriotic activities and the growth of sports and shooting societies in order to prepare young people for new battles to recover Alsace and Lorraine annexed by Germany. This led to the creation of the Gallia medal, a Gaulish warrior representing La Patrie and conveying the image of a France ready for battle.
