PARIS - EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE de 1889 - GRANDE MEDAILLE D' EXPOSANT. Work by Louis Botté *, general view of the exhibition with the Eiffel Tower specially created for the event. A double event as it also celebrates the centenary of the French Revolution. Above, a seated blacksmith is crowned with laurels by the Republic dressed in antique style. Reverse: bust of the Republic under an oak tree, star in the sky, a female allegory, topless, playing the horn - in the exergue attribution in a frame: HENRI RANCIAT. bronze and horn hallmark on edge - 107 grams - 63 mm. - VERY GOOD * LOUIS ALEXANDRE BOTTE : born in Paris in 1852, died in 1940. Medalist-engraver-goldsmith. Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris, Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. First great prize of Rome 1878.
