RENNES / BRITTANY 1920 - Bronze class medal in bronze with the 1st type of the "CONCOURS NATIONAL et INTERNATIONAL de la SOCIETE des TIRS de FRANCE". Joint work of the heraldist-draughtsman Auguste Mangonot and the sculptor-medallist Charles Gustave de MAREY * - obverse: "a good heart fears nothing" (in Latin) in a circular legend, high relief engraving, portrait of Bertrand Du Guesclin in chain mail, helmet raised with holly leaves. Reverse: coat of arms of Rennes supported by 2 ermines set on 2 branches of laurel. The words "Rennes 1920" appear in a band at the top, with captions around the edge. In wood & velvet case - 40 mm - 33 grams. VERY GOOD CONDITION * MAREY : Sculptor / Medal maker born in Verneuil sur Avre (27) in 1878, died in Houdan in 1967.
