Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Openwork bowl and its tray in tin-glazed earthenware with polychrome enamelled decoration of flowers and insects, a bird and a squirrel in medallions held by a Greek knot. Characteristic of Émile GALLÉ's Japonism with peonies, plum trees and insects. Handwritten signature enamelled on the reverse in red E. Gallé à Nancy and a small leafy branch decoration, circa 1879-1889. Bowl: 8.5 × 25.5 cm. Tray width: 30.5 cm. (A few chips around the edge and one piece glued back, restoration to part of the tray, traces of glue and missing pieces).
