Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904) & SAINT CLÉMENT & MAJORELLE NANCY. Set of two pieces in polychrome glazed tin-glazed earthenware: A very fine piece characteristic of the artist's Japanese style and probably taken from the prints of Utagawa or Hokusaï; - A basket, the handle and contour in the form of basketwork with Japanese decoration of flowering branches, the handle of the basket held by a pink bow (damaged). Signed on the reverse Saint-Clément and the letter "B" of the painter-decorator, Atelier de Saint-Clément circa 1870; - A cup in the form of a knotted napkin with enamelled and lacquered Japanese decoration of dragonflies, butterflies and symbols, enhanced with gold. Signed on the reverse in red with the Majorelle stamp Nancy, circa 1864-1879. (Damage, missing parts and restorations). L.: 26 cm and 34 cm.
