Description
* SAINT-CLÉMENT. A tin-glazed earthenware pleated bowl with polychrome enamelled decoration in the Imari style enhanced with gold and decorated with Japanese characters in a phylactery meaning "joy" and "gaiety" and flowering plants. Handwritten signature painted with initials on the reverse circa 1880. Handwritten signature painted in Saint-Clément red and the initials DMG on the reverse, probably of the decorative painter who followed Émile Gallé throughout his career: Germain MAIRE (1848-1891). D. 12 × 19 cm. (Restoration to a corner)
