Stanniferous earthenware covered trembling cup and saucer or cream pot with polychrome and gilded enamelled decoration of violets and Rocaille shapes.
Handwritten signature painted on the reverse, E. Gallé Nancy, circa 1877-1889.
H. cup: 13 cm.
Diam. saucer: 15 cm.
(The enamel is missing, there is a hair on the back of the cup and minor restoration inside).
The violet was a flower dear to Émile Gallé, a symbol of modesty and loyalty to Lorraine.
