Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Bouillon and its tray in tin-glazed earthenware with polychrome enamelled floral decoration with gold highlights, bearing the words "Plus penser que dire" ("More thinking than saying"). Handwritten painted signature and enamelled stamp on reverse, circa 1890. D. stock: 10 × 16.6 cm. Tray: 19.5 × 16.5 cm. (Chips, wear to the gilding and hair on the bouillon) The motto refers to the city of Bar-le-Duc: "More thinking than saying" and could be the motto that everyone should follow.
