Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Very original polychrome glazed earthenware jug with painted decoration and incised in the paste of a country ball around a fiddler and a couple of dancers under a sign with a flaming heart, symbol of ardent Love. An interesting research piece by Gallé with a pale-blue lava-effect enamel and ochre-brown drips with incised decoration in the soft paste of a couple in fashionable Directoire or Consulate clothes. Handwritten signature enamelled on the reverse, as well as that of a collaborator circa 1890. D. 31 × 22 cm. It is rare for a Gallé piece to bear two signatures, his own and that of a collaborator: an illegible signature that we could attribute to Paul Descelles or Loety.
