Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). A rare trompe l'oeil piece showing an earthenware fisherman's basket with polychrome enamelled painted decoration of a scene of fishermen pushing a boat in a seascape worthy of Joseph Vernet or Lacroix de Marseille. Handwritten signature painted on the reverse, circa 1890. D. 34 × 21 cm. Incredible piece imagined by the artist as a fisherman's creel; the edges reproducing a canvas or a net, stretched over branches, with a cord around the handle.
