Description
* Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904). Louis XVI style earthenware planter on legs and handles with polychrome enamels and gold highlights, painted with a snowy landscape and a marine in reserves, topped with a Greek-style ribbon; the rim of the piece is decorated with an openwork chain. Enamelled signature and painted stamp on reverse, circa 1880. D. 16.5 × 46 × 25 cm. (Restoration to a socket) Interesting dialogue between the Louis XVI style and the Japonism dear to Gallé with its naturalistic reliefs, bunches, flowers and almost atmospheric miniature landscapes.
