Marcel André BOURAINE (1886-1948). Penthelese, Queen of the Amazons. Bronze sculpture with brown-black patina on a veined black marble terrace. Lost-wax casting by Susse Frères Paris, founder's signature on the base and metal identification plate on the terrace, 1925. Antique plaque dated 1928 and fixed around the base with the words "Hommage de la D 11 à son ingénieur" ("Tribute from the D 11 to its engineer"). Bronze dimensions: 25 × 48 × 12 cm (approx.). Base: 5 × 50.5 × 16.5 cm. (Possible restoration to the bow or the assembly: the end of the curved bow can be seen to have been brought back and fixed by hand, slight patina wear, bronze not fixed to the terrace).
