Arthur GUÉ (1857-1916)
"Born in Rochefort-sur-Mer on 14 March 1857 into a family from Poitiers, Arthur Gué moved to Poitiers at a very young age where he succeeded his father as head of a chromolithography business.
Attracted to drawing and watercolours from an early age, he sold his business in 1903 and divided his time between Poitiers and Paris, where he studied under Luigi Loir.
In 1906, he made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Français, becoming a member the following year. He had two solo exhibitions at the Galerie Georges Petit in 1910 and 1913. Arthur Gué also took part in the Société des peintres de montagne, the Salon d'Hiver and the Société Internationale des Aquarellistes. He died on 7 February 1916 in Paris.
