Our expert classifies stones that have been modified using ‘traditional gem-cutting practices’ in the same way as those that have not been modified. (Art. 3)
Our expert designates stones modified by other processes either by the name of the stone, followed by the word ‘treated’, or by specifying the treatment undergone. (Art. 2). Stones not accompanied by certificates or laboratory reports have been valued by the expert, taking into account any modifications referred to in paragraph (a).
Our expert, Louise TEISSEIRE, is available to buyers for any further information regarding Decree 2002-65 or the various types of treatment that exist. Identification techniques and analytical conclusions regarding the origin and classification of gemstones and pearls may vary from one laboratory to another. Consequently, it is possible, in certain cases, to obtain a different result depending on the laboratories consulted.
