Studio collection of Philippe BERNARD (1936–2024): The Auction House is delighted to present the studio collection of Mr Philippe Bernard, a well-known figure in Compiègne, painter, printmaker and art teacher. Throughout his career, he developed a personal body of work imbued with sensitivity, which he described in these words: ‘A secret, obstinate artist, I create, far removed from trends, a coherent body of work, always characterised by a great sensitivity of line. I draw my themes from observing the micro-landscapes of the ground, where marks and traces form imaginary coordinates. I analyse, refine and compose using rhythm and lines of force to achieve the image that most intensely conveys my vision.” This sale offers a rare opportunity to discover a collection of works straight from his studio, reflecting his artistic journey and his attachment to Compiègne.
