It is of the utmost importance that you ensure you have funds readily available to pay the Purchase Price and the Purchase Commission (plus VAT and all other Fees and expenses due to us) in full before bidding on a Lot. If you are the successful bidder, you must make payment by 4.30 pm on the second working day following the Auction, so that all sums are settled by the eighth working day following the Auction at the latest. Payments made by anyone other than the registered Buyer will not be accepted. Bonhams reserves the right to amend the terms of payment at any time. Bank transfer is Bonhams’ preferred method of payment. You may transfer funds electronically to our Account. Payment may also be made by one of the following methods: A personal cheque drawn on a French branch of a bank or mortgage lender: all cheques must be cleared before you can collect your purchases and must be made payable to Bonhams France SAS. Cash: you may pay for Lots purchased by you at the sale using banknotes or coins denominated in the currency in which the Sale is conducted (but not in any other currency), provided that the total amount payable by you in respect of all Lots purchased by you at the Auction does not exceed €1,000 or the equivalent of that sum in the currency in which the Auction is conducted, at the place where payment is made. Cash payment of up to €1,000 will be accepted for an invoice not exceeding this amount. There is no limit on the value of the payment if it is made in person using chip-based verification. Payment by telephone may also be accepted for an amount not exceeding €5,000, subject to the appropriate verification procedures, although this facility is not available to first-time buyers. If the amount payable by you for Lots exceeds this sum, the balance must be paid by another means. The payment amount is limited to €5,000 if the payment is made in person using chip-based verification. We advise you to inform your debit or credit card provider of your purchase in advance to minimise any delays caused by us having to request authorisation when you come to pay. We reserve the right to investigate and identify the source of the funds we receive, to postpone the completion of the sale of any Lot at our discretion whilst we complete our investigations, and to cancel the sale of any Lot if you are in breach of your undertakings as a Buyer, if we consider that such a sale would be unlawful or would otherwise impose obligations on the Seller or Bonhams, or would be detrimental to Bonhams’ reputation.
