The applicable VAT rate is 20 per cent, except for books (5.5 per cent); VAT on the fees may be refundable upon presentation of supporting documentation, within a maximum period of one month. The highest and final bidder shall be the buyer, provided that the Auctioneer accepts the final bid by declaring the lot sold. In the event of a tie, recognised as valid by the Auctioneer and recorded in the auction minutes, the item shall be put up for sale again, with all bidders present, bidding live or by telephone, being entitled to participate in this second auction. Re-lining, parquet work or lining, which constitute a conservation measure rather than a defect, are not reported. Dimensions are given for guidance only. The absence of any mention of restoration, damage or incident in no way implies that an item is free from any present or past defect or repair. Conversely, the mention of one defect does not imply the absence of another.
