The Collection of Dr Jean-Denis Gleize
Archaeology, Antiquities and Ancient Civilisations
This sale presents a collection of antique objects originating mainly from the Mediterranean basin, but also from various regions around the world.
Assembled over the years by Dr Jean-Denis Gleize, a discerning connoisseur and passionate collector, this collection includes, in particular, antique glassware, ceramics, terracotta, bronzes, small archaeological objects and finds from excavations.
Through the diversity of its origins, materials and periods, the collection bears witness to the collector’s curiosity about ancient civilisations, craft techniques and the history of human societies.
Deeply committed to heritage, Dr Gleize had, during his lifetime, donated a significant collection dedicated to the Ubaye region to the Musée de Barcelonnette.
This sale now offers the opportunity to discover another facet of this collection, assembled with passion and erudition.
The attributions, dates and provenances indicated in the catalogue are provided subject to change and are based on the information available at the time of examining the works
