Featuring works by Matthieu Gauthier, Marite Braster, Joshua Sucré Zimmermann, Kevin Leroux, Éric Chapuis, Gildas François, Yan Picard and Mo The Frac Lorraine is hosting the Secours Populaire de Moselle for the ‘Expo Bleus’ from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October. The exhibition showcases work overalls transformed by artists from Lorraine, reflecting the region’s industrial and working-class history. The opening will take place on Thursday 15 October from 6pm to 9pm. It will include an auction of all the pieces from 7pm to 8pm. The public will be able to purchase these unique works, with all proceeds going to Secours Populaire de Moselle. — For the first time, Frac Lorraine and Secours Populaire de Moselle are joining forces on a project that brings together art, solidarity and local history. Over several months, this project has brought together artists, students and committed individuals around an object that is both simple and deeply symbolic: the blue overalls. Ten renowned local artists, along with five students from the École supérieure d’art, have agreed to transform this iconic garment into a work of art. This choice echoes the mining and steel-making history of the Moselle, paying tribute to those who forged our region’s industrial identity, whilst also reflecting the values of work, passing on knowledge and solidarity. Each artist offered their own interpretation of the overalls, giving rise to original and unique works of art. Through this project, the partners aim to create a space where two worlds that do not always intersect can meet: the world of artistic creation and that of solidarity. The project is led and supported by the painter Matthieu Gauthier, patron of this first edition, who is committed to bringing these two worlds together in a central hub of Metz’s artistic life. He has also chosen to donate two of his own works to the project. All proceeds will go towards the work of Secours Populaire de Moselle in supporting people in precarious circumstances. Beyond the sale itself, this initiative aims to highlight that access to culture and access to solidarity can go hand in hand and, together, help to forge connections.
